More About Me

MY BACKGROUND

My name is Chanel and I'm currently a junior at DHS. I'm very interested in a STEM career to not only break stereotypes, but also inspire other young women to take a different route and always do what they desire to do. The career definitely isn't an easy one but it's something I'm very passionate about and willing to work towards.

I'm also currently serving as Vice President at my school's FBLA++  chapter. In the club, we have a lot of fun and make lots of close friends while also getting things done. While being in the club, I've learned about the effort and work that has to be done in order for meetings to happen and successfully go through. My fellow officers and I work hard to plan the meetings for the members and even if things go wrong, we roll with the punches and get through it. After Attending the 2019 Fall Leadership Conference, it inspired me to want to become a part of the team and lead to friendships and to develop certain skills.

My advisor had recognized my drive and competitive nature. He suggested my involvement with competitive nature. When we got to Regionals and I heard my name called out, I knew the hard work had been worth it. Competing also helps us bond as a team because we help each other study and encourage each other to do better!

Here is a look at some of the work I've done in my high school career.

Makey-Makey Presentation/ Challenge

The Makey-Makey Challenge was done in my Intro to Digital Technology class and we were challenged to make up a creative situation where we could take a picture using our laptop camera connected to a Makey-Makey!

Scratch Game

The Scratch Game we had to create was also done in my Intro to Digital Technology class. We had to actually develop a game using the Scratch software. The software is very user-friendly and is great especially for beginner coders!

MIT App Inventor App

Our last big project was finally creating our own app. With this app we also had to create a presentation explaining our mods fully, pseudo-code we used as inspiration, a chart explaining what we knew, want to know, and learned, and finally how well we presented. The app was made on MIT App Inventor and we tested the apps out on tablets in the classroom!
